General Information
Correctional Institution for Women (CIW) in Mandaluyong City is a prison camp for women offenders. CIW, supervised mostly by female correctional officers, provides various activities to inmates aside from other services like basic health, medical and dental services.

Admission numbered to 157 with 2 recidivists and 0 escape. A total of 44 inmates were released (11 Parole, 3 Pardons, 13 Expiration of Sentences and 17 Others) from January to June 2008. 5 administrative cases were filed involving 17 inmates.
Rehabilitation Programs
Inmate Health Care. CIW Hospital recorded 908 consultations, 48 admissions and 172 outside referrals. The 3 prevalent diseases include: URTI (78 cases), Skin Disease (31 cases), and PTB (3 patients).
Education Program. 43.62% or 684 inmates are enrolled on the different programs such as Elementary, High School, College, Vocational and Skills Training, Literacy Class and Applied Training Courses. There were 24 graduates in the Elementary Level, 7 in the High School and 147 in the Computer Literacy Training.
Livelihood Training. Practical cooking, soap (powder and liquid) making, T-shirt dyeing, and beaded bag making were taught. Also, entrepreneurship seminar/tutorial and teachers training were sponsored by PUP and St. Scholastica College respectively.
Therapeutic Community Program. For drug cases, the TC Program helped 157 inmates (10.01% of the total population).
Sports and Recreation. Around 1,200 inmates participate daily in Sports and Recreation Program.
Religious Activities. Almost 20% of its population practices their religious beliefs. They have different congregations to accommodate inmate’s religious practices. This will have a huge effect both on their incarceration and their way to facing the society after they have served their sentence.
Work Programs. More than 13% of the total inmates population contributes with the institutions work program to include: production of crops such as Horticulture Crops, Aqua Culture and Fishery and Livestock.

The Correctional Institution for Women (CIW), Mindanao, the second prison facility for female offenders in the country, is one of the sprawling facility that is a far cry from the cramped spaces of CIW Mandaluyong.

Rehabilitation Programs.
The rehabilitation programs being carried-out in the CIW Mandaluyong were also extended to the inmates of the CIW Mindanao. Except for the Drum and Bugle Band and the Crossroad Female Band of CIW Mandaluyong, both female prison institutions have their own Ati-Atihan, Dance Troupe, Choir, Special Projects and Agro Undertakings.
TADECO Banana Repacking
A number of CIW inmates work as packers and sealers at the TADECO Banana Farm. Proper and reasonable compensation were given to inmate workers.
Agro Projects
Since CIW Mindanao was recently established, piggery is the one of their sources of income. They are situated inside the camp and inmates are helping each other on its maintenance.
