General Information
Davao Prison and Penal Farm in Panabo, Davao del Norte, offers various agro-industries and livelihood programs which include handicraft making, tire recycling, and joint venture in banana plantation with the Tagum Development Corporation (TADECO). Also within the sprawling 10 hectare camp sits the Correctional Institution for Women Mindanao, which was inaugurated last September 18, 2007.

A total population of 5,092 prisoners as of June, 2008 were recorded. Compared to the same period last year, there was a marked increase in prison population by 20%. There were 490 admissions (480 first offenders and 10 recidivists). It should be noted that there is an increase in admission attributed to the transfer of 150 inmates from NBP to DPPF. There were 7 escapes (all under minimum security status) recorded, with a total of 13 retrievals. A total number of 156 inmates were released (45 Parole, 19 Pardoned, 76 Expiration of Sentence, 6 Acquitted and 10 others). A total of 67 admin/disciplinary cases filed involving 89 inmates.
Rehabilitation Programs
Inmate Health Care. There were 730 consultations with 173 admissions and 32 outside referrals. The top prevalent diseases are UTI, lacerated wounds, and PHPN. There were 29 natural deaths, majority died of heart ailments.
Education and Skills Training. A total of 499 inmates are enrolled at the non-formal education. 30 inmates passed the Alternative Learning System, garnering the highest in the province of Davao del Norte.
Inmate Work Program. 48 inmates are engaged in Agro projects, while 190 are assigned at Dorm Maintenance. A total of 1,196 are employed with TADECO, our corporate partner. Production projects include vegetables (upo), fruits (mango, banana), rice, corn and swine.
Religious Program. A total of 3,650 inmates participated with the various religious activities.
Sports and Recreation. A total of 680 inmates participated in the sports activities.

The Correctional Institution for Women (CIW), Mindanao, the second prison facility for female offenders in the country, is one of the sprawling facility that is a far cry from the cramped spaces of CIW Mandaluyong.

Rehabilitation Programs.
The rehabilitation programs being carried-out in the CIW Mandaluyong were also extended to the inmates of the CIW Mindanao. Except for the Drum and Bugle Band and the Crossroad Female Band of CIW Mandaluyong, both female prison institutions have their own Ati-Atihan, Dance Troupe, Choir, Special Projects and Agro Undertakings.
TADECO Banana Repacking
A number of CIW inmates work as packers and sealers at the TADECO Banana Farm. Proper and reasonable compensation were given to inmate workers.
Agro Projects
Since CIW Mindanao was recently established, piggery is the one of their sources of income. They are situated inside the camp and inmates are helping each other on its maintenance.
